Autumn Lights

On the kitchen island:
Fall fabric basket garter and place mats. A large class canister filled with orange mini lights. They make  great night lights in the kitchen.
The etagere in the living is topped with a fall leaves garland and more orange mini lights.
By Day...
 By Night!
A Wood carved pumpkin and turkey sit in front of the biscotti jars.
Autumn lights

Enjoy a favorite Autumn treat...Pumpkin Bites.

Cheers!

More Fall In The Kitchen

I've been adding a few more fall decor items to the kitchen.
Apothecary jars on the counter filled with gourds and gathered nature finds.
Monogram L & R mugs from Marshalls
It's all on the corner of the kitchen bar counter.
A cute scarecrow lid on a pumpkin scented candle sit by a jar filled with Sweetgum balls. The Sweetgum tree in native to the Florida forest. The small spiky fruit balls drop and turn a woodsy brown.
Change of Heart
I hung a pumpkin on my seasonal wooden heart,
and added a pumpkin banner to the menu board.
We always have GHOUL-ash on Halloween.
A Longaberger pitcher and pasta bowl on a wrought iron stand are filled with golden leaves and gourds.
 Pumpkin soap dispenser.
 Coffee bar mug shots.
A basket filled with fresh fall apples is a must!
I'm thinking cobbler!

Cheers!

Fall Dining Room Chairs

No, I don't change my dining room chairs for fall.
But, I am selling 6 upholstered chairs on Craigslist.
They were used in the conference room at the office.
I needed to take a nice picture of them for the ad. I arranged them around my dining room table for the picture.
.... hmmm...they looked kinda nice there. Especially with the fall decor. Maybe I'll leave them there until they sell.
It gives the room a different look. Even Mr. May Days noticed them when he got home without me asking; "Do you notice anything different?". Now that's a change!

PS. If anyone lives near Ft. Lauderdale, I'm selling them for $25 each.

Lunch At The Central Park Boat House

One of the most important parts of an outing for us is finding the perfect place for lunch.
So, after our tour of "You've Got Mail" all over the upper West Side, (see previous post) we walked  more than 30 blocks to Central Park.
We walked to Bethesda Terrace.
To see Bethesda Fountain, the crown jewel of Central Park.
 "Angel Of The Waters"
4 smaller figures represent Temperance, Purity, Health, and Peace.
We took the path along the lake.
Even on a weekday the park is very busy.
To the Central Park Boathouse.
A wonderful day to eat outside.

Enjoying a glass of wine and the view.

An oasis in the city. We had a wonderful day in NYC.

"You've Got Mail" & Our Day In NYC

The day we took the train into NYC was the best weather day of the week. Perfect! I always pick a different neighborhood to explore on each visit. This time it was the Upper West Side: home to "You've Got Mail", Matt Dillon (who we just missed at Starbucks) and many other "swells". I decided to get corny and visit all the locations from YGM, one of my favorite movies. Here are a few.
I'm sure you remember Kathleen Kelly's charming
brownstone. Joe Fox (Tom Hanks) brings daisies
to Kathleen Kelly (Meg Ryan) .
With a little detective work I found the
brownstone used in the movie.
It's at 328 W 89th Street, for
all you obsessed fans of YGM. We also
stopped at the grocery store, Zabars,
Gray's Papaya, Starbucks,
All the places they met.
Also Cafe Lalo, where Kathleen waited with a
red rose while reading 'Pride and Prejudice'.
To meet 'NY152' ,who didn't show.
We walked thru beautiful Riverside Park
that runs along the Hudson River.
To the 91st Street Garden.
Where.....
They met at the end.

I love this movie!

Blogging On The Porch & A Peek Inside

Visiting daughter Vicky and her family in New Jersey. They have a big front porch, which I love.
Give me a pot of tea, a book or my laptop and a beautiful day and you'll find me there.

Now, here's a peek at the living room.
 Before: colors
After: The walls painted blue and a little rearranging.
Before: Built in bookshelves. I liked these so much that Larry built some for our hallway in Florida.
After: The bookshelves were painted a very dark, almost black, green. They now make the room look so much richer. The ceiling was painted a creamy yellow.
I love how they turned out.
Floor to ceiling, filling the entire wall.
A gallery of family photos pop against a red wall in the entry hall.

All the bold colors from the exterior (see previous post) continue inside. Vicky's house is one block from
her downtown area. It's an easy walk to the train station, restaurants, shops, movie theatre, and library. Everything is close by.

Tomorrow we are taking the train into NYC. You're invited!

Cheers!
