May River Grill

How could we not stop at the May River Grill for dinner? The fact that the food was outstanding was a bonus! On May River Road, just south of Hilton Head. It was a little detour on our drive home from  Charleston. Unfortunately the May River oysters were not yet in season or we would have had those.  Larry had crispy duck with blackberry brandy glaze and I  had crispy scored flounder.
A little out of the way restaurant next to a gas station.
Charming inside and rave revues of the cuisine.
It was hard to decide. Too many things we liked.
The special mussels appetizer. They were the best we had on our trip.
The May River greens, a chopped salad with cucumber, tomato, artichoke hearts, gorgonzola, onion, bacon and raspberry vinaigrette.
Crispy scored flounder is a house speciality.

May River Grill, May River Road, Bluffton, South Carolina.
Worth the detour!
