Collections

Handmade Hearts and Thrifty Throws

My collection of handmade hearts. Some are made from old quilts, some are from scraps of leftover material, trim and ribbon. All were picked up here and there and now are gathered together in an old basket, that's been sprayed white.

The basket sits on top of my collection of handmade afghans. Those were picked up "Goodwill Hunting" at thrift stores while traveling on road trips. I just toss them into the washing machine and machine dry with softener sheets and they come out sweet and soft. They are nice and big, and most of them were only $3-$5. The yarn cost more than that, not to mention the time and talent to crochet or knit them! It all sits on top of a stack of large Longaberger baskets, another collection, next to my bedroom wall unit.

How Would You Like Your Coffee?

Black? Cream? Sugar? Milk?

I'd like mine with a piece of cake please.  Click on Lemon Poppy Seed Bread for the recipe.

I also like to have the milk frothed. It's very cappuccino-latte' like.

It's easy with the aerolatte' milk frother. Just put the skim milk into your mug, and froth, then fill with coffee. Somehow it makes coffee taste even better. I bought mine at BB&B using the coupon, of course.
Now I'm addicted to it!

It's Summer!

That that means lots of ice cold lemonade in pretty lemon glasses.
I saw these pretty glasses on Cherry Hill Cottage last year and had to have them. Thanks Tina for finding them at The Dollar Store. I use mine all summer.
Lemonade with a sprig of mint from my garden. Very refreshing!

Painted Bathroom Tiles

Blue and White
I wanted a little check tile accent in the Jack and Jill bathroom, so I just painted them. I used craft paint for glass and cut a small sponge the size of the check I wanted.

May in June

Even though it's June, it's always May at MAY DAYS. I used ModPodge to decoupage block letters from Michael's with pages from a calendar. They sit on top of the microwave. I change out the MAY for all the holidays, but this fills in between.

Tennis Cans, reuse to organize! 1001 uses

I play lots of tennis, so I have lots of empty tennis ball cans. I also get more from my club, because you can never have too many to use for organizing everything! They are great. They are unbreakable, free, transparent, so you don't need to label them, and you are recycling. They can be used in the garage, kitchen, car, bathroom, gym bag, craft area, office, boat, RV, etc.. If you don't have any, get them from any tennis club. They open a box at a time and just throw out the cans. Here are just a few uses.

Great storage above the garage workbench. They hold: extension cords, brackets, cable ties, small tools, steel wool, etc. You get the idea!
store picnic ware

Store lots of craft  supplies, shells, corks, buttons and bows. Larry built these shelves using 1X4's. These are in the garage. You can build shelves between studs too. More ideas in the future. I actually find this fun to do.

Hey Mango!

We have mangos on our tree!
We planted the tree a few years ago...and waited, and waited.
For big ripe mangos to appear.
To pick in our yard!
And bake mango bread, or make mango salsa or chutney. Or just cut it up and eat it.
